Watch Apple’s promo videos for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, and Apple Watch Series 5

Apple had a very busy day today during its special event, introducing a lot of new devices. It’s also premiered its first promo videos for these, so let’s take a look at what the company has in store for us.

First off, the iPhone 11 Pro gets an introduction, in this video, talking about its construction, durability, the A13 chip, battery life, the new triple rear camera system and redesigned Camera app UI, Night Mode, video recording and editing, the new Super Retina XDR display, privacy and Face ID.

Next up, we have the cheapest iPhone of 2019, the non-Pro iPhone 11. Its introductory video shows us some of its striking colors, and also focuses on the new dual rear cameras, water resistance, video recording quality, slo-mo selfies, Face ID, speed, Night Mode, and the display and battery life.

Finally, the Apple Watch Series 5 video keeps insisting that the device tells time… while also doing a bunch of other things, like taking calls, controlling IoT devices, and locating you via GPS. It also wakes you up, lets you pay for stuff, and plays music – oh, and there’s Siri too. Texting and fitness features also get a mention. Check it out for yourself:

iPhone 11: a first look at Apple’s new default iPhone

I just spent some time with Apple’s new iPhone 11, the successor to the company’s popular iPhone XR. It’s arriving on September 20th, priced at $699. While the iPhone 11 looks visually identical to the iPhone XR from the front, it’s the rear of the device that’s really changing this year.

Apple is adding a dual-camera system with an additional 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that lets you pull back to a 5x field of view so you can see more in the frame. Those cameras aren’t in a separate camera bump anymore. Instead, the rear glass of the phone now incorporates the camera modules. It’s still a camera bump, but it’s all a single piece of glass now. It’s quite striking, especially on the white model.

This camera system includes a new software interface for both of these cameras that lets you see outside the frame, so you can see the details of the photos you’re taking with the ultra-wide camera. You can also hold down the shutter button to immediately start taking a video. (Don’t despair, you can still take burst photos by sliding the shutter to the left. It’s a neat little interface idea.) The front-facing camera is also getting an upgrade, to a 12-megapixel TrueDepth wide-angle camera that supports slow-mo capture for what Apple calls “slofies.”

The camera changes are the big news this year, but you’ll also be able to pick from new color options: purple, white, green, yellow, black, and red are all available. Apple is also improving the battery life by an hour this year, thanks to the latest A13 Bionic processor inside.

Apart from the additional camera, the upgraded processor, and the slight increase to battery life, the iPhone 11 is extremely familiar if you’ve spent time with the iPhone XR. The 6.1-inch LCD display is under slightly stronger glass now, but it’s still an excellent Apple LCD, not an OLED. The Face ID module works a little faster and at a slightly wider angle now. It’s very hard to judge processor improvements in a demo setting, but the A12 Bionic in the XR already had so much headroom that it’s hard to see how that will be a noticeable improvement for the target market here in the near term.

Apple will start shipping the iPhone 11 on September 20th. Apart from the color options, you’ll also be able to pick from different levels of device storage. 64GB models are $699, with 128GB at $749, and the largest version is $849 for 256GB of storage.

We’re going back to collect some more time with the iPhone 11 and shoot a video, so stay tuned. And of course, we’ll be reviewing this phone as soon as we can.

Bloomberg: iPhone 11 lineup will offer improved Face ID sensor, better low-light photography

Apple’s September 10 event is fast approaching and rumors surrounding the next-gen iPhones are finally gaining some consistency. A new report from Bloomberg confirms previous rumors that Apple will streamline its iPhone naming scheme by introducing the “Pro” moniker for the successors of the iPhone XS and XS Max. The main addition to the new Pro models will be their triple camera setup which will be able to combine shots from all three lenses to produce higher resolution images with better low-light performance.

In addition, users will have new post-processing options with frames, crop and video editing capabilities built right in the Photos app. Face ID will see a massive overhaul on the new iPhones with a multi-angle sensor which will enable unlock even when the phone is laying flat on a table. Under the hood, the A13 chipset will feature a new co-processor developed for AR applications. Apple will also offer new matte color options.

The report also details the expected new 10.2 iPad which will replace the entry-level 9.7-inch iPad. The iPad Pro line will receive a spec bump and will come with the same camera as the flagship iPhones. A cheaper HomePod is also said to be in the works but it’s going to be available in early 2020.

Reliable Twitter leaker suggests Apple to name iPhone 11 ‘Pro’

In an interesting proposition, an anonymous Twitter user who leaked many accurate details about the iPhone XS and iPad lineup this morning tweeted a suggestion as to the iPhone 11 naming scheme.

CoinX says rhetorically that Apple will use the Pro suffix branding for the new iPhone.

The source previously corrected named the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR a week before their debut. They also stated the exact weight of the XS Max, described the default wallpaper set and even the asymmetric grille hole arrangement seen in the iPhone XS line.

However, in this latest leak, CoinX does not clarify the naming exactly. There are several ways that Apple could incorporate the “Pro” moniker into iPhone lineup and the tweet does not disambiguate.

It could mean that Apple is readying an “iPhone” and “iPhone Pro” tiered lineup, using the new XR as the “iPhone” and the triple-camera iPhone 11 as “iPhone Pro”.

Similarly, Apple could retain the numbers and go for an “iPhone 11” and “iPhone 11 Pro” approach.

Maybe only the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max successor gets the “Pro” designation?

In whatever way, this manifests itself it would be the first time that Apple has used the word “Pro” for its phone lineup. However, its inclusion would bring better symmetry for the iPhone standing next to iPad, MacBook, and iMac lines — all of which Apple maintains “Pro” and non-Pro products in their respective product categories.

As for what “pro” features are coming down the pipe, at this stage, we have a pretty clear picture of what the new 2019 iPhone will be. It will largely resemble the iPhone XS in exterior design, with the addition of a new square camera bump which incorporates a third, ultra-wide, lens. The three lenses are arranged in a triangular configuration. There have also been some discussions of a new matte texture for the back glass.

Otherwise, we are expecting internal improvements for the new iPhone with Apple clearly concentrating on camera upgrades. The iPhone will feature new antennas for precise indoor positioning, the powerful 7nm A13 chip, and bilateral wireless charging — so users can charge their AirPods by placing it on the back of the iPhone.

None of these expected features necessarily have an association with “Pro” tier functionality, but Apple’s naming has never been too closely attached to reality. For example, most models of MacBook Pro are effectively mainstream consumer machines, but still differentiated from the entry-level “Air” line.

What would you like Apple to name the iPhone 11? Let us know in the comments.

New iPhone 11 release date, price, news and leaks

With Apple’s new iPhone 11 launch date approaching rapidly, we’re starting to get a far more rounded picture of what the new smartphone is going to look like.

If you’re entirely new to the new iPhone 2019 rumor mill, then let’s get one fact out of the way first: all the leaks point to another incremental upgrade. We’ve been sifting through iPhone rumors for over a decade now, and nothing is telling us that we’re going to see anything truly revolutionary with 2019’s iPhone.

Yep, that means the same shape and display size but with faster innards and a (likely) enhanced camera. Things like 5G, massively refreshed screen technology and a move away from the Lightning connector won’t be here until at least 2020.

The new iPhone 11 will be the poster-child for iOS 13, and we’re pretty certain that we’ll be seeing the iPhone 11, iPhone 11R and iPhone 11 Max… what Apple is going to call them remains a mystery though, with there being no obvious next step to the iPhone XS

What is it? The new iPhone 11 will be Apple’s next flagship
When is it out? Launch is likely to be mid-September 2019
What will it cost? Likely no more than last year’s iPhone XS

The main change will be that camera upgrade – we’re now fully expecting three sensors on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max, and just two on the iPhone 11R – but with enhanced capabilities on each model.

There will reportedly be some smart features added for charging, and Apple might finally have added in something users have been crying out for – read on to find out the full rundown of what TechRadar’s iPhone experts expect to see for the new iPhone in 2019.

We’ve rounded the key iPhone 11 leaks in a little video just for you, to give a quick overview of what you may be able to expect later this year. The Latest iPhone 11 RumorsVolume 0%
