OnePlus: Here is the real flagship

So as we are in the Corona Virus lockdown session in most of the countries around the world, OnePlus threw a product launch streamed through company’s YouTube account.

I have watched the whole presentation and damn this device is impressive.

The company has released two main phones this year as all companies have done. A Pro version and a simpler version keeping all the pro features with some cut outs to make it cheaper.

The phone popped all over my social media news feeds as the marketing team did a great job giving the phone to be reviewed from the worlds top tech savvys and give you a glimpse of what is the new phones about.

See below what one of my favourite tech reviewers has to say about the device and let me know in the comments what do you think.

I think that OnePlus did a great job building an impressive phone and keeping the wow factor meter high by showing us how it is better from an iPhone with an Apple style product presentation.

Leaked OnePlus 8 Pro official images show Ultramarine Blue and Glacial Green colors

The OnePlus 8 Pro will have an exclusive color, Ultramarine Blue, which you can see in these official images that leaked a couple of weeks before the phone’s announcement.

Like the vanilla OnePlus 8, the Pro will be available in the new Glacial Green hue as well as a more traditional Onyx Black. The Ultramarine version isn’t a gradient like the Interstellar Glow of the non-Pro model, however.

Leakster Roland Quandt also has some more details to share. As you can see in the images, the display has slightly curvier sides (the vanilla phone is mostly flat). This will be a 6.78″ AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and and will be able to push out 1,300nits at max brightness.

Quandt confirms the dual 48MP setup on the back with a Sony IMX689 sensor in the main camera (1/1.43″ sensor, 1.12µm pixels) and an IMX586 in the ultra wide cam (1/2.0″, 0.8µm). There will also be an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 5MP sensor whose job will be to capture additional color data.

OnePlus already confirmed the 120Hz spec and that the 8-series phones will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage, plus a 5G modem, of course. CEO Pete Lau said that the phones will be under $1,000.

By the way, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will get Cyan Sandstone cases, which will look great with the Glacial Green paint job. The Pro is also getting Black Sandstone and Karbon (black again), but nothing to go with the Ultramarine Blue.

OnePlus to unveil its new screen technology next week

OnePlus is sending out press invites for an upcoming event in Shenzhen, China scheduled for January 13 where the company is going to introduce a new screen technology. There’s no further clues as of now but according to speculation, we’ll see the company’s first 120Hz refresh rate screens.

Some rumors suggest we could see the upcoming OnePlus 8 lineup but this would be less than three months after the release of the current 7T series, breaking the company’s May and October release cycle.

It’s more likely that this event is just a short briefing focused on the new 120Hz screens rather than a full reveal of the next gen OnePlus phones. The company seems fully committed to the high refresh rate game as co-founder Carl Pei mentioned that all future OnePlus devices will come with at least 90Hz refresh rate screens.

Anyway, we’ll just have to wait and see what OnePlus has in store for this event. As usual, we’ll keep you posted with all the headlines after the keynote.

New OnePlus 7T renders show off a circular rear camera bump

The OnePlus 7T rumors and leaks are coming thick and fast now, and the latest unofficial images to hit the web are some very nicely done renders that pull together everything we think we know so far about the phone.

Created by @OnLeaks and shared on Pricebaba, the images (and accompanying video) show a phone with a tiny teardrop notch on the front of the device and a circular, triple-lens camera on the back.

That rear camera setup matches a leaked sketch we saw just a couple of days ago from another reputable phone tipster, so it’s starting to look pretty likely that this is indeed what we can expect from the OnePlus 7T.

OnePlus usually reserves big design changes for its big flagship launches, rather than the T variation models, but this year it might buck the trend – and the design does match a leaked photo that appeared online in December.

Aside from the cameras, we’re expecting a 6.5-inch display from the OnePlus 7T, as well as the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage (this is all unofficial for now though).

As for a launch date, we think the phone might launch in India as early as September, with a global launch to follow in October. OnePlus hasn’t put anything official on the calendar yet.

We were impressed with what the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro had to offer when they were unveiled in May, and it looks as though OnePlus won’t be resting on its laurels when it comes to its mid-cycle refresh either.

As the days tick around to September it shouldn’t be too long before we hear something official from OnePlus – in the meantime, we’re got plenty of leaks and renders to pore over.

Future OnePlus device with round camera island gets pictured in leaked sketches

OnePlus is shaping up to be quite busy until the end of this year. There’s the launch of its first ever TV next month, already officially confirmed, as is the fact that it’s going to out another 5G device before 2020 comes around. And then we’ve also heard a lot of rumors lately about the company readying a OnePlus 7T Pro and/or OnePlus 7T.

One of these smartphones could be pictured in the leaked sketches below, that come courtesy of Evan Blass, aka @evleaks. Apparently they do depict a product that is in the works at OnePlus, and that device was first spotted all the way back in December of last year, when we showed you a leaked image from an internal presentation held by the Chinese company.

The round camera island on the back is hard to miss, in both cases. This would mark a pretty substantial design change for the company that has so far steered clear of such a camera arrangement. There are no details about which phone this is, unfortunately, so your guess is as good as ours. Would you like to see a OnePlus 7T Pro 5G with this design?
